Development is on hold

I'm not that advanced in creating 3D models and texturing them, and this is the point when I should already have them in order to move forward with the game development. As for static models, of course I would probably be able to make such models as well, but to make rigged character models, I need to learn how to do that first, as I've never done anything like that.

I also don't have anyone to help me with it.

So the creation of the game is currently on hold until I can make such models. I'm also considering moving to PSX-style graphics to make the process simpler as well, and from what I've tracked on YouTube with popular YouTubers, graphics don't matter, what matters is the storyline, how that storyline is told, the atmosphere and interesting events. Such a change would speed up the process of creating a game, would be less demanding for computers, and easier to create (this is my first game, it is possible that the game I am trying to create is too difficult for me.).

The game also doesn't have a written storyline - that's something I need to get behind as well, instead of pushing more mechanics into the game by force.

The Watch Tower needs to be modeled and replaced - the current tower does not match my vision for the game.

I've also already done the first test with the SUV - it will be necessary for moving around in the game world, since the head idea is for the player to act in two places, among others:

  • at home
  • in the Watch Tower

And such vehicles also require them to be rigged - I can't throw just any 3D model from the Internet into the game, as it won't match stylistically.

So, when I return, I'll be sure to write about it here (and on the Discord server). I think I will also create another game - easier to create - while I'm learning.

See you soon!
